| School Headquarters Installs Fingerprint Processing System
Orange County Public Schools headquarters in Florida has become the first installation site of the state's automated fingerprint identification-based applicant processing system for education and insurance workers.
The system features fingerprint scanning equipment from Lockheed Martin Information Systems and will process the fingerprints of an anticipated 27,000 job applicants per year, and is expected to be fully operational in all counties by July. It scans an applicant's fingerprints digitally and eliminates the use of paper cards and ink. The process offers a fully automated electronic transfer of fingerprints, and poor-quality prints are instantly highlighted by the system, allowing operators to rescan the prints immediately.
"This new state-of-the-art technology will provide us with fingerprint information within a matter of days," said Orange County superintendent Ronald Blocker. "It is another great tool in our efforts to ensure the safety of our students." "The response time for applicant background checks for education and insurance industry workers will be greatly expedited by the use of our proven digital fingerprint acquisition and communication technologies," said John Hallal, president of Lockheed Martin Information Systems.
The Lockheed Martin fingerprint enrollment technology was developed in conjunction with Integrated Biometric Technology. The system captures fingerprints and transmits them via a channeling agency to the FBI, improving the efficiency for fingerprint background checks.
