| Fingerprinting Centers To Serve Tennessee Bureau Of Investigation
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will implement fingerprint scanning services to run fingerprint-based applicant background checks for employees, volunteers, and/or applicants.
The background checks have been mandated by the Tennessee State Legislature for paid or volunteer employment, as well as licensing in areas like child care, teachers, security, armed guards, and security systems contractors. The Centers will use the Identix TouchPrint Live Scan systems throughout the state to take applicants' fingerprints and identifying information and submit them electronically to Bureau processing. Bureau personnel will perform all processing and determination of final results to be sent to the licensing or employing agency. The Centers will not perform criminal arrest fingerprinting and will have no access to criminal arrest data.
David Bolme, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation information systems director says, "The present system in use, which requires submission of paper fingerprint cards, takes several weeks to complete due to the additional processing required for paper and delays due to mail delivery on both submission and delivery of responses. Our new Tennessee Applicant Processing System now provides employers and licensing agencies the ability to complete the process in days, enabling them to make employment or licensing decisions more quickly. We are excited to work with Sylvan/Identix to provide this service to our agencies."
