PASADENA, Calif.-The Houston Airport System has selected a team headed by Parsons to be the security consultant for the three Houston airports—George Bush Intercontinental (IAH), William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), and Ellington Field (EFD).

Parsons' contract scope includes reviewing the current security plan; assessing the threats to and vulnerability of HAS airports; developing a new, comprehensive security master plan for each of the three airports; and serving as the HAS Security Program Management Consultant. Recommendations will include a combination of technological, procedural, architectural, facilities and manpower options.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to provide a range of options and solutions for the security and safety of Houston Airport System travelers and employees," explains Milton Hunter, Parsons Senior Vice President. "The Parsons team has the right mix of capabilities and skills to provide innovative solutions for homeland security at Houston's airports, and we're absolutely delighted to be chosen for the challenge," adds Hunter.

Comprehensive reviews of each airport will include physical security of the terminals, baggage systems, fuel farms, HVAC systems, cargo area and utility infrastructure; such as fuel hydrant systems, electric power, and telecommunications. Recommendations for closed circuit television, biometric access control and other security systems will be included.

The HAS contract is the latest in Parsons' aviation security projects. Parsons has provided vulnerability assessments and security plans for various homeland security projects including water systems, bridges, airports, ports and infrastructure programs throughout the United States. Parsons supported a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) program to design and manage construction of new passenger security checkpoint lanes at airports throughout the United States.
