SAGEM wins the Personnel identity control system of the Paris Airports

Oct-31-03

Paris, October 30th, 2003 - SAGEM has been selected by Aéroports De Paris (ADP), as the Prime Contractor for the biometric identity control of the personnel entitled to access the apron security areas. This programme, which uses fingerprints, will be implemented in partnership with OMNITECH, specialist in security information systems. The project concerns 90,000 persons spread among the two airport platforms of Roissy Charles de Gaulle, and Orly.

The system will be installed by the end of 2003 and throughout the first semester of 2004. It will enforce security, increase control reliability whilst reducing the staff’s access time to their working zones. The system integrates fundamental technological skills fully mastered by SAGEM: fingerprint biometric recognition, data encryption and contact-less smart cards.

The ADP decision confirms SAGEM’s position as the world-leader in biometrics and its know-how in airport security applications. With over 100 fixed and 15 mobile security checkpoints, the system will indeed be Europe’s largest airport staff identity control system. SAGEM’s biometric equipment, which have already been chosen for similar applications on other major airport platforms, prove again their high level of technical performance and reliability.

Groupe SAGEM is an internationally based high-technology group. The second largest French group in the field of telecommunications, the third European company in electronics for defence and security, the world leader in fingerprint-based biometrics, major actor in avionics and on-board information systems for aircraft, SAGEM maintains a presence in more than 20 countries. http://www.sagem.com
