Dmatek Wins First US Program With New Voice Verification System

Nov-21-03

Dmatek Ltd., the London listed (DTK.L) provider of leading electronic monitoring technologies, today announces a first contract to provide offender presence monitoring through automatic voice verification in the US. Dmatek’s wholly owned subsidiary, Elmo-Tech, will supply the system, designated for a juvenile offenders corrections program, until the end of 2004, with four one-year extension options.

Earlier this year Elmo-Tech completed the assimilation of a computerized voice verification system into its integrated monitoring platform. The new system is designed to operate effectively over different telephony networks and systems, supporting real-life conditions, including background noise and natural voice or accent variations. The system is language independent, guaranteeing maximum flexibility for different countries and markets where more than one language may be required. The new voice system can be operated as a standalone monitoring solution or in combination with RF presence monitoring or other ElmoTech monitoring modules such as the MEMS remote alcohol monitoring and the STaR GPS based real time tracking system.

Voice verification is used in the law enforcement and corrections industries for the positive confirmation of offenders’ presence in their homes or other pre-set locations, after a relevant court order has been imposed. It is a highly cost effective passive monitoring tool, complementing Elmo-Tech’s array of active monitoring solutions offered to its clients in the law enforcement and corrections industries. Voice verification systems use a regular telephone line and do not require the installation of field monitoring units in the offender’s home. Voice verification systems are in use in the US, mostly for low risk offenders. Similar systems are expected to be an integral part of the continued UK Intensive Supervision and Surveillance Programme, due to start early 2005.

Dmatek’s CEO, Yoav Reisman said, “We continually strive to broaden our product offering to match our customers requirements and needs. The Voice Verification System will enable our clients to develop more flexible monitoring programs at a lower overall cost” He added: “We anticipate a growing demand for such mixed programs where a variety of technologies are used to provide different levels of monitoring”.
