Cognitec Awarded Contract in South Florida Face Recognition Software for Criminal Investigation System

Herndon, VA / Dresden; Cognitec Systems, a leading provider of
advanced face recognition technology and solutions has announced that it has been
awarded a contract by a South Florida law enforcement agency. The agency’s Jail
Booking and Investigation System has been extended to use Cognitec’s latest face
recognition technology.
This advanced functionality allows investigators to compare p hotographs of suspects
against a set of several hundred thousand photographs stored in the Jail Booking
System. The investigation process is accelerated and made more reliable, by
automatically identifying persons who have already been registered before. The
system is also used to select appropriate facial photographs to be used in line-ups for
witnesses.
The innovative project presents new methods in applying face recognition and
database technologies to law enforcement identification needs.
