Iridian Announces Proof Positive Certification for the Panasonic BM-ET300 Iris Recognition Camera

MOORESTOWN, N.J.- 2004—Iridian Technologies today announced it has awarded Proof Positive certification for the Panasonic BM-ET300, a versatile 2-eye camera used for capturing a person's iris images for biometric identification.
The Proof Positive(TM) hardware and software certification program from Iridian Technologies confirms that iris recognition cameras and software solutions meet critical standards for performance, interoperability, safety, security, scalability, usability and reliability. Iris recognition is the most accurate, non-invasive and easy-to-use biometric for secure identification.
"The BM-ET300 is an excellent addition to our growing line of Proof Positive certified cameras. It is the fifth camera to achieve certification for PrivateID(R) and Proof Positive compliance," said Tarvinder Sembhi, Director of Product Marketing for Iridian. "The BM-ET300 is unique in that it uses an on-board processor to generate IrisCode(R) templates. Generating IrisCode templates using the embedded processor inside the camera provides our partners and customers a new level of flexibility for developing iris-enabled applications and systems. Using the PrivateID software, the templates are generated in PrivateID data packet formats that insure both enhanced security and interoperability with other Proof Positive certified cameras."

Certification includes a series of formal audits and evaluations, including compliance with Iridian's PrivateID and KnoWho(R) application programming interfaces (APIs), data formats, encryption, and countermeasures. Proof Positive certified cameras are interoperable with other certified cameras, not only from the same vendor, but from other vendors as well. Certified cameras easily interface with Iridian's KnoWho server software for maximum performance in searches against millions of records.
