BioPassword Brings to Life the Science of Keystroke Dynamics and Demonstrates Its Unique Multi-Factor Authentication Solution

SEATTLE, WA- BioPassword, Inc., the only software company providing secure authentication and anti-fraud solutions based on the behavioral biometric of keystroke dynamics, today announced that individuals can now quickly learn the science behind keystroke dynamics, attempt to impersonate a legitimate user and see how their typing rhythm compares to others.

What Is Keystroke Dynamics?

Keystroke dynamics dates back to the late 1800s when telegraph operators were able to identify the person on the other end of the line simply by his/her tapping rhythm. By the early 1980s, the U.S. National Bureau of Standards concluded that by typing userID and password, keystroke dynamics provided up to 98 percent accuracy.

How Does It Work?

Keystroke dynamics measures the series of key down and key up event timings while the user types a string looking at "dwell time" (the time between the key down and key up) and "flight time" (the time from key down to the next key down to the time between one key up and the next key up). BioPassword has developed a proprietary technology that uses these measurements to calculate the string template unique to the individual's keystrokes.

Keystroke Dynamics In Use Today

BioPassword has matured the keystroke dynamics technology to deliver the leading secure authentication and anti-fraud solutions with a simple, yet powerful combination of the user's standard login credentials (userID and password). As the leading biometric over the Internet, BioPassword Internet Edition is protecting hundreds of thousands of consumers online, while BioPassword Enterprise Edition validates the identities of employees, partners and customers within enterprise networks across the country. In combination with keystroke dynamics, even if a password is stolen, it cannot be used to breach identity because the typing rhythm associated with it can never be shared, lost or forgotten.

About BioPassword

BioPassword, Inc. (www.biopassword.com), located in Issaquah, Washington, leads the market in delivering enterprise security software solutions for multifactor authentication and reducing fraud using the biometric science of keystroke dynamics. By creating a biometric template from user logon credentials in combination with a high-performance behavioral biometric processing engine, the device-independent authentication software is fast, accurate, transparent, scalable to millions of users and immediately deployable across the organization and the Internet without the need for expensive tokens, cards or other specialized hardware. Using BioPassword to monitor and authenticate users, organizations can quickly and cost-effectively implement secure access, comply with regulatory requirements, and reduce the risks of fraud. BioPassword products include Computerworld Horizon Award-winner BioPassword Internet Edition for multifactor authentication in web-based environments and BioPassword Enterprise Edition for multifactor authentication in Active Directory networks and Citrix Presentation Server environments.
