ALEXANDRIA, VA - National Trade Productions (NTP) today announced the call for nominations for the first annual Profiles in Innovation Awards, to be presented at a joint session of GOVSEC, Government's Largest Security Conference and Exposition, and the U.S. Law Enforcement Conference and Exposition (U.S. LAW). These events are co-located July 23-25 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

Sponsored by GOVSEC and U.S. LAW and co-sponsored by Government Security News, the Profiles in Innovation Awards recognize and honor government and industry leaders in security and law enforcement whose innovative work has yielded ground-breaking results for our country. One first place award and one honorable mention will be presented in each of the following categories:

  • Physical Security
  • Information Security
  • OPSEC
  • Cyber Security
  • Law Enforcement
  • Disaster Preparedness/First Responders
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response

Members of the entire security and law enforcement community, including vendors, are eligible to be nominated for a Profiles in Innovation Award. Submissions for both individuals and teams will be accepted. Awarded by members of the Advisory Boards for both GOVSEC and U.S. LAW 2003, winners of the award will be chosen based on the security challenge faced, strategic areas addressed to develop a solution for the challenge, and results deriving from this approach to the situation.

There will also be a Chairman's Award, given by the GOVSEC 2003 Program Chairman Allan Berg, Associate Director, Institute for Infrastructure and Information Assurance at James Madison University. The Chairman's Award will be given to an individual or agency that has given superior contributions to the Government security industry.

"The advisory boards of both GOVSEC and the U.S. Law Enforcement Conference and Exhibition got together and came up with the idea for the Profiles in Innovation Awards," said Robert E. Harar, chairman of NTP and producer of government conferences and expositions for more than 25 years. "These awards will ensure that we are properly honoring individuals and agencies for their contributions to homeland security, government security, and law enforcement."

The deadline for submissions for the Profiles in Innovation Awards is May 23, 2003. Nomination forms can be found online at www.govsecinfo.com. Please contact Sharon Patterson, CMP, regarding the Profiles in Innovation Awards at spatterson@ntpshow.com or 703.941.5896.
