LITTLETON, Mass.—Viisage Technology Inc.'s biometrics products will soon be used at a Middle East airport, in an effort to heighten security.

Viisage officials say the pilot project will also boost efficiency with the visa process at Dubai International Airport, in the United Arab Emirates. They hope to deploy an entire system by next year, Viisage said in a statement.

Viisage's FaceEXPLORER and FaceFINDER products will scan people's facial images who are passing through the airport, and help build a database. The hope is to capture anyone who is listed as a suspected terrorist, or felon.

Bernard Bailey, company president and CEO, said the country "will produce a blueprint for other national entities adopting this technology, not just in an airport but across a host of security practices and processes."
