NBSP Releases Latest Summary of Published and Emerging Biometric Standards
Bowie, MD –NBSP today announced the availability of its latest update of published and emerging biometric standards. Seventeen new and/or updated standards were published since the last update issued in September 2009, bringing the total number of published standards to 111. The report details these, along with another 95 emerging standards currently under consideration.
Among the newly published standards covered in this report are a standard designed to improve the security of the drivers’ licenses and ID cards issued by AAMVA members and improve the level of interoperability among cards issued by all jurisdictions; a new standard for interfacing with a FIPS 201 Smart Card, which includes data objects for biometrics and a means of calling a match on card; a standard designed to provide guidance for the development of modality-specific biometric testing methodologies and a standard that supports face image data in the third dimension in addition to current two dimensional data. Both published and emerging standards reports can be downloaded at www.nationalbiometric.org.
