Indian Government Certifies Cross Match Devices for UID - 2nd September, 2010

.Cross Match’s rugged and dependable Guardian fingerprint capture device and the I SCAN dual iris capture device have been certified for UID. Both systems utilize Cross Match’s patented Auto Capture® feature which quickly captures high-quality images with minimal operator involvement.

The certifications were approved by the Standardization, Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) Directorate for the Government of India’s Department of Information Technology (DIT).

Smart Identity Devices Pvt. Ltd. (Smart ID) is Cross Match’s technology partner in India. Cross Match and Smart ID have successfully partnered to register and identify residents for various projects, including Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS), Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) program, the Public Distribution System (PDS), a pilot program of National Population Registry (NPR), a pilot program for the UID project and a proof-of-concept in Bihar. “Across the country, we have been able to easily capture high-quality images with Cross Match scanners,” says Nirmal Prakash MD at Smart ID. “Despite harsh environmental conditions, the solutions have operated flawlessly.”
