Increase your knowledge and establish credibility in the field of biometrics with the IEEE Certified Biometrics Professional™ (CBP) Program.
WCC brings a unique approach to identification with its ability to integrate and fuse not only biometrics but also biographic and contextual data. On top of that, we support latest developments in biometrics, where template extraction algorithms not only create a template out of an image, but also are able to extract features like gender, ethnicity, age etc. So we genuinely bring together all information about a person, both explicitly supplied and implicitly deduced, creating a holistic person profile.
We have recently launched our fourth-generation service-oriented server product, our "Biometric Services Platform" (BioSP). It’s essentially a very smart, flexible, services-oriented biometric data router/processor that establishes connectivity with multiple systems, manages transport of biometric files between them, and performs advanced biometric image and data processing on-board.
As convergence becomes a reality, organizations want to be able to leverage their existing assets. Our products make that possible. DaonEngine operates with no preference for specific technology. Its deployment architecture is designed to use any algorithm, any device, any token or credential. It provides a uniform management structure across multiple identity mechanisms including biometrics (finger, face, and eye), smart cards, tokens, RFIDs, PINs and passwords. Within a solution, this flexibility allows an organization to add or change identity descriptors throughout a system lifecycle creating an environment for technology competition which helps keep long-term ownership costs down.
We offer both our proprietary iris identification algorithms and our iris identification cameras worldwide.
Through years of research and development we are confident that we have some of the most accurate and versatile iris identification algorithms. Our algorithm is based on our original patented "variable multi-sector method" based on non-circular segmentation. Using this method we achieve one of the highest accuracy marks in the industry. Besides accuracy, another strength of our algorithm is its versatility; even if the eye is occluded by eyelashes, contacts, reflection, or eyelid, we can still achieve very high accuracy. Our algorithm can also accurately match quite blurry images with minimal error.
QUESTION 1: What have been the three most significant events/announcements for the Biometric Industry this year?
QUESTION 2: What are the most pressing issues facing the Biometric Industry as we move into 2008?
QUESTION 3: Was 2007 a good year for your company? What were some of the highlights? What will 2008 hold for your company?
Our product line-up is divided into two groups, one group contains all our fingerprint modules available in desktop or OEM version, the second group includes custom products where we combine our fingerprint modules with other standard devices, i.e. smartcard readers, RFID readers, flatbed scanners, signature pads etc.
Without a doubt for the next years Civil ID projects like e-ID cards, e-Passports and e-Driver licenses will determine the growth in our industry giving an enormous boost to fingerprint and face recognition industry.
With a combination of fast algorithms and high reliability, Neurotechnologija's fingerprint and face biometric technologies can be used for access control, computer security, banking, time attendance control and law enforcement applications, among others.
We see face recognition and large scale multi-biometric demand increasing around the globe as more and more countries decide to build national IDs, biometrical passports or voting systems. Biometrical technologies are core for all of these applications.
On the cyber security, as with a lot of government regulations, they tell you what you have to do, or the standard, but not HOW to do it. The NERC CIPs surrounding cyber security deal with logical access; so the emphasis is on providing security for access to sensitive and critical systems, in this case, electrical utility command and control systems that could stop power, reduce power, cut off power and so forth. Due to terrorism concerns, the NERC standards are calling for greater security.
NEC’s MobileID also developed in cooperation with NEC’s law enforcement customers, combines NEC’s core competency of AFIS, wireless communication technologies and mobile applications to provide fast, accurate and proven fingerprint identification technology where it is needed the most – in the field. MobileID provides law enforcement officers in remote locations – on the street, at crime scenes, or at check points – the capability to scan, collect and forward and retrieve valuable information, including fingerprints, mugshots, demographic information, and criminal history records over a wireless network directly to and from a central AFIS site or a central database for identification. Immediate suspect identification in the field maximizes an officers’ time in the field obtaining immediate information on a suspect. MobileID provides convenience, speed and accuracy for officers to do their job effectively!
General Jones was here a few days ago for his orientation and spent the day with us. We were very impressed with him and I think he was impressed with Cross Match. General Jones, who was Commandant of the Marine Corps from 1999 to 2003, is one of our most distinguished military leaders since the Second World War. He is well known around the world, especially in Europe, where he was the NATO Supreme Allied Commander prior to his retirement earlier this year.
Convergence is a very important trend and we can help organizations get there faster and simpler. If you want to converge your physical and logical access you have to do a few things. One of the most obvious is that all systems are going to run across the IT network managed by the information technology side of the business. Another change relates to management. Typically in order to truly apply convergence you need to convert management so that both your physical and logical security systems report up through the same executive team.
This biometric terminal is truly “smart”. Our MA120 W PIV was developed to respond to the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201 initiative, which is called PIV (Personal Identity Verification of Federal Employees and Contractors). We saw early on a need to have a solution that not only meets the PIV requirements but also meets the needs of the end-user, basically the government agencies. The MA120 W has two integrated processors inside the terminal which can process the data off the PIV card and help make the decision at the entry points.
The core technology was initially developed in the mid 90's in close collaboration with the government and the military, today the company’s voice verification engine is still in use by a US government agency for tracking felons.
VoiceVault provides true biometric authentication by mapping over 100 separate data points relating to the individual's vocal tract antimony. By approaching voice verification in this manner VoiceVault achieves accuracy levels that are similar to fingerprint and facial recognition.
Currently there are three distinct models all supporting biometric fingerprint matching for verification. Our base model, the DSVII-SC, supports the ability of reading a multitude of cards including contact and contactless as well as other proprietary standards in the field. Our scanner unit the DSVII-PA, has a full document scanner at its base allowing it to scan a full page passport, making our device the only mobile passport verifier readily available. Our last model is the DSVII-SW, which similar to the PA has a smaller footprint of the scanner module allowing it to read standard card size documents such as state driver licenses for example.
The 3D facial recognition system … allows us to have multimodal access - multiple biometric methods for people to gain physical access into buildings or into roads, and we do believe that there is a great demand and will be a future great demand for multimodal biometric type physical access. At the same time logical access is also something that we do see great value from.
Our 3D facial cam ... will allow you to just look at the camera and it will authenticate you and give you access to your applications on your network. The fingerprint authentication now can be part of the 3D facial. We have a very large PC manufacturer and they have approached us to find a way to miniaturize the dual cameras so we can actually put it into the face of a notebook computer so that you can authenticate by just looking at the device.
As we got into the market, one of the things that we heard from the small business owners - and again the vast majority of small business owners still do employee time capture by pen and paper, or mechanical punch cards or maybe e-mail, which is totally inefficient and usually inaccurate…
Clocking in and out with their finger eliminates "buddy punching" so their buddy can't punch them out 15 minutes later to capture those extra times. You have to physically be there with your finger to clock in and out.
