ActivIdentity and Novell Integrated Physical-Logical Access Solution to be Showcased at Novell BrainShare 2008 - March 17, 2008
FREMONT, Calif. and SALT LAKE CITY, - BrainShare 2008(R) -- ActivIdentity Corporation announced today that the integration of the ActivIdentity Smart Employee ID and the Novell Identity Assurance Solution will be demonstrated at BrainShare 2008, showcasing the next generation in physical-logical access convergence solutions.
"Security extends beyond IT systems," said Nick Nikols, vice president of Product Management, Identity and Security at Novell. "As an integral part of the Novell Identity Assurance Solution, our robust enterprise-class identity manager offering serves as the backbone for enabling the management of access to both physical and logical resources, addressing key challenges faced in today's enterprise."
Customers looking to deploy a single secure employee ID badge for physical and logical access throughout their organization can deploy the Novell Identity Assurance Solution and the ActivIdentity Smart Employee ID solution, which combines the ActivID(TM) Card Management System (CMS) with Novell Identity Manager. When combined these solutions allow organizations to utilize a single identity management system across both physical and logical resources.
The Novell Identity Assurance Solution offers convenient yet controlled access to disparate logical IT systems and physical facilities using combinations of biometrics, passwords, personal identification numbers, smart cards, X.509 digital certificates and other forms of advanced authentication. The ActivIdentity Smart Employee ID smart card functions as a photo ID and a proximity badge for facility access, as well as an IT security device for digital identification and authentication. Smart Employee ID is much more than a multi-function smart card: it is a solution that allows organizations to converge user identification and improve facility and IT security by integrating processes and back-end systems. The result is a single card for each person across facility and IT domains, providing increased security and accountability.
"Together, ActivIdentity and Novell have built a reputation on meeting the physical and logical security needs of the world's leading government and enterprise organizations," said Thomas Jahn, CEO of ActivIdentity. "Physical-logical convergence provides improved identity lifecycle management, security and compliance. An ever-increasing number of organizations are using ActivIdentity Smart Employee ID alongside Novell products as part of their complete physical/logical security strategy."
The Novell Identity Assurance solution with integrated ActivIdentity Smart Employee ID will be demonstrated on March 16, 2008 at BrainShare(R) 2008 in Salt Lake City, UT.
