Selection of Sagem Sécurité iris identification system by
Oman and Jordan - March 19, 2008
Sagem Sécurité (SAFRAN Group) announced today that
it will supply to Oman and Jordan identification systems based on iris
recognition. The systems will be used for ID checks at borders.
These systems will be deployed at more than 100 sites, mainly at border
crossing stations and airports. Border police in both countries will have an
extremely fast and reliable system to check the identity of people entering
their territories, calling on databases with previous records of people’s irises.
Sagem Sécurité’s system can check in virtually real time.
Sagem Sécurité is the first company to be selected in the Gulf area for the
supply of identification systems based on iris recognition. It already provides
automated fingerprint identification systems to other countries in this part of
the world.
This major business win for Sagem Sécurité’s iris recognition technology
follows the IRIS* project deployed in the United Kingdom for the automated
control of travellers. It further confirms Sagem Sécurité’s world leading
position in biometric ID solutions, as well as its expertise in multibiometric
technologies and ability to provide turnkey identification solutions.
