New Microchip Provides Strongest Protection for Data in Portable Devices, Says Priva Technologies - November 05, 2008
CHICAGO, - Priva Technologies, Inc., working with the Department of Defense, has designed a next generation secure microchip to protect data in portable devices such as cell phones and laptop computers.
Protecting stored information is one of the most pressing security concerns today, and commercial "off-the-shelf" solutions are not strong enough for the job, says Jeff Minushkin, Priva's chairman and CEO. Minushkin notes that Priva's new chip was specifically designed to protect stored data.
Mark Krawczewicz, a Priva employee who worked for 22 years with the Department of Defense in the areas of security and biometrics, notes that "this microchip provides tamper protection, simplifies integration to other devices, and strengthens security for encryption key storage and authentication; all within a single ultra low power device."
The authentication and tamper resistant technologies used in Priva's microchips combine to form some of the most protected security systems on the market," Krawczewicz notes.
"One area where this microchip will be applied to protect sensitive data is Priva's ClearedAccess Control System. Commercially available biometric solutions and databases in use today are highly vulnerable. Priva's microchip and technologies address this risk and vulnerability gap by going beyond biometrics."
