California University of Pennsylvania - Master of Science in Legal Studies: Homeland Security Track

Master of Science in Legal Studies: Homeland Security Track
The threat of terror and the posture to withstand its onslaught can only be described as a very serious business. Trained, educated and intellectually sophisticated specialists compose the front lines of defense in the ongoing resistance to those forces, which undermine the American way of life. Day to day, dedicated civil servants serve the needs of so many so often that the additional variable of terrorism cannot always be the primary consideration.

The homeland security online program delivers graduate education with three primary objectives in mind:

  • Develop strategies, plans and programs to prevent terrorist attacks within the United States, and reduce America's vulnerability to terrorism.
  • Build the organizational arrangements needed to strengthen homeland security, including local/state/federal, civil-military and interagency cooperation.
  • Help government leaders make immediate as well as longer-term improvements in homeland security preparedness, by having our graduates conduct policy development work on real world, actionable opportunities for progress.

IEEE Certified Biometrics Professional® (CBP) program.

http://www.ieeebiometricscertification.o
IEEE established the Certified Biometrics Professional (CBP) Program to help identify individuals who have the knowledge and skills deemed essential for biometrics professionals. The IEEE CBP Program was developed by leading subject-matter experts from industry, government, and academia and offers an unbiased, third-party recognition of an individual’s abilities. Earning the IEEE CBP credential can:
  • enhance professional credibility;
  • increase opportunities for career advancement;
  • set you apart from your peers;
  • demonstrate commitment to the profession;
  • result in greater respect from employers; and
  • increase confidence on the job.
Increase your knowledge and establish credibility in the field of biometrics with the IEEE Certified Biometrics Professional® (CBP) program. Together, IEEE and some of the world’s leading biometrics experts have developed a new certification program, IEEE CBP, to meet the training, hiring, and evaluation needs of professionals and companies throughout the biometrics industry. The IEEE CBP designation helps identify individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply the biometrics professional body-of-knowledge to real-world problems and situations.

University of Wisconson - M.S. in Biometry

http://www.grad.wisc.edu/education/mas/1

The Program is interdisciplinary, providing formal coursework in statistics and biology, consulting experience, and supervised research combining the two areas. Students completing the Program will understand biological processes and have the ability to apply and extend a broad range of statistical concepts and techniques to biological problems. This integration of statistics and biology is the distinguishing feature of the Program. The Biometry Program is distinct from the M.S. Statistics Program in its interdisciplinary emphasis and corresponding reduced depth in statistics. (Students interested in training with statistical consulting as the primary focus should apply for the M.S. in Statistics through the Statistics Department.)

West Virginia University - Bachelor of Science in Biometric Systems

http://www.lcsee.cemr.wvu.edu/ugrad/degr

Biometric identification is a highly interdisciplinary field mixing traditional engineering with the forensic sciences. As a result, the engineering design and development of biometric systems requires knowledge of the biometric as well as the engineering disciplines. Designers work with the physics of the sensor to obtain measurements of the biometric defined by human physiology. Signal and image processing techniques are applied to the sensor signal to extract features usable for identification. Databases combined with artificial intelligence enable rapid storage, retrieval, and pattern matching while decision theory supports the mechanisms whereby systems can provide the needed identification results. Underlying the entire system is a foundation of statistics and mathematics which provides the language for implementing and evaluating biometric technology and systems.
